I stumbled across a a self-heal plant at me favorite nursery awhile back. Its been producing beautiful purple flowers already. I did a little searching on the net and am curious if anyone has any experience with this little medicinal plant.

Thanks for the link, man.
It seems this plant is also found in europe. I've found reports of it being used in some capacity in the treatment of hiv, but I'm guessing that's just ancedotal at this point.

The article suggests tannin might be the HIV inhibitor. Best not to remove the tannins in making extracts of these plants?
Interesting observation, ttst.
The tannins found in grape skins are said to have beneficial effects on the heart, I believe.

I just saw an article in the paper about how good grapes are for you. They are packed with antioxidants and phytonutrients. They found that the reason wine drinkers had less health problems was because of the grapes, not because of the alcohol.
Great point, stoney!
You wouldn't believe the number of people out there who want the beneficial effects, but hate the taste of wine. Most of those folks have no idea that eating grapes would prolly get them to the same space without the alkie-hall buzz.
