* Featured Classic Rock Album: R.E.M., *Reckoning* (1984) . . . Second LP from one of the greatest rock bands ever, & they just didn't stop writing great songs for a second in those heady early days . . . while the country was going to hell, again, & most pop music was fake saxophone synthesizer crap, these boys were blowing out their speakers with psychedelic sugar nuggets . . . wow! so good . . . listen over & over . . . it gets better . . .

* Featured New Rock Album: The Shins, *The Worm's Heart* (2018) . . . A "flipped" version of last year's LP, *Heartworms* . . . this meaning Shin mastermind James Mercer took the songs on that album, sped up the slow ones, slowed down the fast ones, played around with them . . . the result being what he calls an "alternate version, opposite version" . . . strange conceptual trickery aside, it's a really good album, warm & weird & sweetly odd in a Shins-y way . . . stands well as a companion, or on its own solidly . . .
* Featured Classic Rock Album: Crooked Still, *Shaken By a Low Sound* (2006) . . . This progressive Americana bluegrass band began in Boston, when its original members met at the New England Conservator of Music . . . this, their second LP, rivals the best contemporary Americana bands, such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Alison Krauss & Union Station, & the few others that are as good . . . amazing, inspired, beautiful playing & singing. . .
