Title: Teen suicide
Post by: JRL on November 10, 2014, 03:40:38 PM
I just lost a wonderful 15 year old student and good friend. He was a bright, sensitive, talented young man with tins of friends and what seemed like a good life.

Trying to come to terms with this devastating catastrophe.

dreadful.
i went to a funeral of a student years ago. i'd written a poem to her lively vibrant self but tears blocked my voice.

friends said that she'd messaged them before she took her life.
how many felt that they could've prevented that final moment
how many wish they could turn back the clock?

but it's all so final.
later her sister became my student and the whole time i prayed i wouldn't use the wrong name.
as said in Romeo and Juliet "a blight on all your houses".
we all bear the scar

i feel your pain, JRL

Its sad when people you are close to die, no matter what the cause is. When i think of those who have passed on i remind myself that death is a natural part of life, the logical conclusion.

Problem was that Spencer was just starting out in life. He was a very special young man. THERE WERE OVER 2000 PEOPLE at his funeral. His Dad was a controlling, uptight asshole and he blames music, the guitar, the guy who runs the guitar store and me for all of Spencer's problems, right up to killing himself with Dad's gun.

We thought it was so weird that in the memorial slide show there was not one picture of him with his guitar, he lived for music, guitar, blues and especially Jimi Hendrix. Just a week before he had met Billy Cox(Hendrix bass player) and was so excited by it.

I keep waiting to wake up from this dream and see his smiling face as he comes for his lesson.

Thank you everybody. The world's loss--- so true, he could have done something amazing. Not just music, too, he was an artist and had a 4.2 grade average.

My wife said that the sad thing is he probably thought no one cared.
