On this week's show:
* New Rock Album: moe., *What Happened to the La Las* (2012) . . . I've long known this New York jamband, but somehow not given them good attention till now . . . they are jammers, but they are even more rockers, bringing a heavy but melodic sound to their songs, lyrical deftness, & a finely made artistic spirit . . . good stuff to discover & keep an ear out for more . . .
* Classic Rock Album: Heatmiser, *Mic City Sons* (1996) . . . This was Elliott Smith's Portland, Oregon based band before he went solo . . . had he stuck with them, they likely would have made it big as indie rockers as they make deftly tuneful songs & know how to bring the hard stuff as well as the softer . . . this album was their third & last, showing off best how good they were, & teasing what might have been . . .
*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 13 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artist is the short-lived but boogie-filled UK band Juicy Lucy, some of whose members had previously been in The Misunderstood (featured on this show's 6/6/2012 broadcast) . . . the heat has come to New England, the green of spring giving way in turn to the hard browning of summer . . . Bungalow Cee settles digs in for long days of sun . . .

On this week's show:
* New Rock Album: Boards of Canada, *Tomorrow's Harvest* (2013) . . . It's been 7 years since this Scottish band's last EP, the great *Trans Canada Highway* & 8 years since their last full album, the wonderful *Campfire Headphase* . . . some groups release albums that one must get to know over time, like a new land or an elaborate set of clothing . . . their new album sounds like them, like a continuity of their sound, while at the same time its sounds are novel, are interesting for having just arrived . . . this is what they call a headphones album, for the greater attention one gives, the more there is in there . . .
* Classic Rock Album: The Church, *Heyday* (1986) . . . This show has featured many albums by this great Aussie psychedelic band, but this one is the earliest so far from from their long discography . . . the brooding jingle jangle is in its lovely exuberant youth . . . I remember happily when I first found The Church's music in the late '80s I would roam from record store to record store scrounging for every last LP with their name on it . . .
*Storybook Time*: Chapter 14 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artist is the Holy Mackerel, a bright bouncy psychedelic pop band that released one album in 1968 . . . some days you wake up & know things will only be better by the shaping of your hand & your mind, & that little bit of luck the Universe sometimes grants out . . .

On this week's show:
* New Rock Album: Milk Carton Kids, *The Ash & Clay* (2013) . . . Been following this California folk duo since seeing them open for Old Crow Medicine Show in Maine last year . . . this, their third album, builds & continues their brightly musical, darkly lyrical work . . . some compare them to Simon & Garfunkel, apt if one does not press it too hard . . . each's path is its own . . .
* Classic Rock Album: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, *Hard Promises* (1981) . . . Wow, rock and roll, Tom & the boys are in fullest form here, whether romantic laments or strange tales, they blow out every willing speaker, give it all, with a fine sneer of good humor . . .
*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 14 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artist is Temples, a young UK psychedelic band I lucked into with just a couple of great EPs to show so far . . . summer comes on with hot breath & teeth, will do what it can whilst it's here, lets up slowly . . . dig in . . .
