Couple cats. I'd like me a tibetan mastiff to go with them, though.

A wonderfully friendly cocker spaniel, an overweight and affectionate siamese, and a bitchy long-haired mutt cat.  I love them all though.

I have an old barn cat with a little lynx in him called Jake.... I guess I'm more the house servant than his owner though.  (is it even possible to own a cat?)

....... wouldn't mind a mastiff myself either.  No space for one though and they get bad hips when they get old.

I have a 7yr old black, white and tan corgi-x called yoda coz she has ears like yoda from starwars.  She's not quite the wisest being in the universe but she is very clever for a dog and takes me for a walk everyday.
What about a gallery for our pet pics?

Got a whole herd of dust mites in my apartment.  Teeny little dust mites. Snuggled warm 'n cozy 'neath my head.

The missus wants a cat, but I say no.  Don't get me wrong, I desperately want a cat, I just think it's a little cruel to confine yet another living being to the box we call our apartment.

Two long-haired, dappled, standard-sized dachshunds. Very neo-shamanic, and a constant companion on my entheogenic excursions.

You can't have a bad experience where there are wienerdogs around. Seriously.

I have two sister cats left over from my marraige, ages around, 12 to 14 years, but they still have lots and lots of energy. That is, When they are not sleeping. The two dogs have passed away, ones buried, the other`s in a box on the shelf, in reduced form.

The'working' medium hair (winter),grey, white, black and brown tabby named Tebeatt rules the house, and is my companion. Wherever I am in the indoors, she tends to be nearby.  She even tells me to go to bed ,around 10pm, by swiping at my hand on the trackball, and giving me a dirty look.

6:00AM,she escorts me to the kitchen, to get going in the morning. These are ridgid esablished rituals, and more than once she has woken me up when I have forgotten to set the alarm, and gotten my rear-end to work on time.

The outdoor cat is like someone elses description, very Lynx like, and very short tempered. She is a Manx, and in the sunlight she has brown stripes, though in regular light she is coal black with,no(little) tail.

I am the only one she tolorates, or really likes. She has tried to stand up, amd even swipe at company of mine in the backyard, that being her world, plus the garage. She has a thyroid problem, which the pills are finally beating. Shes gained back her wieght and her fur looks good.

Though they are sisters, they hate each other. Figure it is a territorial thing, and both get jeleaus if they see me with the other cat. Wierd. In a innocent way, wev`e become ingrown.

I  do think I need to get out more.

Sick today, kind Boss,(actually recovering, strained back) so I can stay home and rattle on about this. Sorry.

Never tripped with a dachsund, but Dorothy and I have joined our souls and swore to be there with each other in this world and all the others.

The weiner dog used to be pretty high strung, but is mellowing out in her old age. She certainly isn't gods brightest creature, that's for sure.

Smart dogs are for those boarder collie snobs.

Both my dogs and I are comfortable enough with ourselves to feel no need to prove anything with silly dog smarts. They have other attributes.

2 Alaskan Malamutes and 4 cats. We had 5 cats until last week when, sadly, a neurotic disease caused a premature exit from this world for one of our cats, Reba (Phish reference).

Pets, eh?

That's a great story, sal.

The wife and I live with three cats, currently. Box Car Willie went out hunting bunnies one night last summer and never returned, yet. Tw oof the remaining three females go in and out as they please, mostly. All were strays. Life is a little easier for me since I'm the alpha cat. But the wife doesn't have it so easy. hehe

I went to work for a pet wholesaler/retailer at the age of 10. I'd been spending my allowance money at their tiny neighborhood shop long before they expanded. And when they did, they took me along for the ride. We had alligators, kinkajoos, snakes, lizards, fish, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds, dogs and the occasional monkey.

One of my fondest memories of that six year gig was arriving to work the morning after a big Oscar got into a tussle with an electric eel. My boss had seperated the two and introduced medicine to the water to ward off infection. They were both in pretty sorry shape. But that's the way an Oscar is; just like a big, dumb, mean dog. They won't give up a good tussle for anything.  Anyway, Don had the eel in a tank on the floor in about 6" of water. I'd heard an electric eel could give off shocks, but the latest I'd heard, you'd have to touch both ends at the same time. hell, that made enough sense to me that I ended up sticking my hand into that tank and touching the eel with one finger riiiiight in his middle section. And I ended up getting a little jolt. Enough to scare me into not doing it again. hehe

Now, its just us five cats. But we do feed the birds at multiple stations around the yard. Of course, that brings in the mice and rabbits, which please the cats to no end. We also have increasing numbers of birds of prey that work our feeders in jan and feb, including sharp-shinned and cooper's hawks.

We feed the birds too. Both seed crackers and hummers. We get hummers all day long right outside our window.
and when we sit on the balconey they come and hover a foot or 2 away.
It's a great show, watching them fight and do their mating dances.

A rubber lizard stuck to my white board and a fake blue Norwegian parrot.  The parrot lost an eye so the remaining one was pulled out and re-applied to its forehead.  The parrot perches on a monitor and pines for the fjords.

I wrote a longish post, was told I had to log in again, and lost it. Poop.

I got carried away and made a web page. Took 32 seconds to load with my slow dial-up. Mostly pics of cats.

//http://www.lisenoel.com/pixpets/petpix.html

Some of those cats are semi-indoor kitties now that it's winter. Some choose not to come inside. There's an indoor litter box. Some of the cats like it so much they'll be waiting outside with their legs crossed, waiting to use the toilet of preference.

Every evening we  have Wild Cat Rumpus Hour, with boxes, paper bags, tennis ball, yarn, toilet paper roll, and nuts. Pistachioes are favored for batting across the floor, filberts and brazil nuts popular, cashews (shelled) get eaten.

Crabs.  They are wonderfull pets.  Low maintenance.  An occasional scratching seems to be all they need to thrive.   My girlfriend gave them to me.  I try to give them back but they seem to have formed an attachment to me.

Barn cats.  They pretend to be shy but love to stare at me through the windows at night as though i am the pet in the cage.  The grandkids have half-tamed 'em even though i told them not to.  I like them to be distant and wild.....just like my girlfriend.

In my household, we have 4 cats, a golden retirever and a small parrot.

None of them behave- they are all given free reign.  I need that "Supernanny" chick to come by and make my pets hang out on the naughty stool.

Sorta like my two cats here.

We all live here, They are dependent on me for substance, but i doubt that crosses their mind, exept when they are telling me they want a refresh.

I keep ahead of that, but I doubt it has anything with being thirsty or hungry. It is the bond between oh...parent amd child. Refuse to call myself 'mother', but it would be edjucational to watch someone else give my backyard cat it`s dailly pill. Backyard cat Even turns on the vet after a few tries...

Wev`e grown used to each other, and it bothers me because they are in their latter years. Hopfully,we will get to retire together, though that is jus` luck on my part being somewhat young(55 when that happens, and almost 54 now).

My cheap answer is that I will prolly pick up another cat... and females are easier to bond and house train,... get a cat on your side, youv`e got a true friend. People who like cats know this, just not as easy as a dog.

My not so cheap answer is that I will grieve, but I have had the opportunity to do that over people now too. Matter of perspective.

Still ,over the two dogs it shore hurt, and these  two creatures have actually growin closer to me.

      Damn.

Noel Persephone, an 18 year old chocolate point Siamese princess...

I found her as a Xmas present for my wife on our first married Xmas together...a physician advertised in the hospial newsletter, and I inquired.  Her father was a multi-blue ribbon show cat, and her mother pedigreed but not shown.  The doc said she had not planned to breed Noel's mother, but the mother was so exceptionally friendly (esp. for the famously haughty Siamese) that she decided to let her have one litter.

She is an extraordinary cat.  Very socialized and affectionate...to people.  Has absolutely no interest in other cats.  She's built along the lean mean wedge-head model of Siamese, long-limbed, tremendously athletic.

When she was younger she used to love to play fetch with, of all things, the metal lids from her food cans.  I would frisbee the lid to the top of a 6' armoire, she would jump to a chair and then to the top of the armoire (a leap of almost 5 feet!), grab the lid in her mouth, leap the 6' to the floor and bring it back.  She could leap from a flat footed start to perch on my shoulder when I patted it--I used to love to show that off.  She has all her claws and teeth:  anyone who would declaw a cat should have at least one fingernail ripped out just for clarification.

I used to play-fight a lot with her:  her favorite was when I would flutter my hand along the floor like a bird and then lift it quickly into the air.  She would leap 3' up, throw all four legs around my forearm, and drag down Mr. Hand...then she would disembowel him with hyperenergetically pumping rear legs, though she never hurt me...much.

She is still chipper, though she sleeps a lot more now.  Still brings out her favorite toys for intense monkey (that's us) play.  She can still fly up the stairs on a good day.  She is testimony to good health care and the active life, lean diet, and love.  Her vet is astonished at her health, alertness, poise...her hair is perfect.  She has never known cruelty of any kind and seems to have no fear whatsoever, though she once responded very dramatically to a rubber snake.  She has the voice of a ticked off banshee when she chooses to use it.

When we brought her home she could curl up in my cupped hand, and she never got very big.  She still weighs in at her prime weight of about 8.5 lbs.  When she is feeling esp. affectionate, she loves to head butt my knee (I'm still a floor sitter, after all these years).

When she passes we will mourn her like the close friend she is.

We too have a chocolate point Siamese, but at 18-19 lbs, athletic is not an adjective for accurate description.  Affectionate? - yes, to a fault.  Active?  If whining for food and attention qualify as active, but otherwise not.  Not a mean bone in his body, unless a strange cat enters the yard, and then all the freaky siamese vocalizations emanate.

We also have either a long haired mutt of a cat, or a very small Maine Coon cat.  We was orphaned or abandoned as the runt of a litter, so he was never properly socialized as a cat.  He is nasty most of the time, being intolerant of the attention that most cats crave.  The exception is when he chooses to pounce on my chest to purr, but only when he decides to do so; I have no say in the matter.

Last but not least, we have a black-and-tan Cocker spaniel.  This dog is great.  Not only does he play fetch, we wrassles and gnaws on my arm without inflicting pain when we horse around.  He loves to watch me work in the yard.  He knows the meaning of "upstairs" and "downstairs" which somewhat amazes me.  He is Mrs. Winder's dog, but he and I love one another too.  The cats were my gift to the mix.

iF I get another cat(not till territory is vacated) I`ve been considering a Maine Coon. We thought we had some sort of miniture cats(they are sisters, 14 years now) when they were growing up,very last growth spurt got them up to 6-8 lb.

However I`m starting to realize that could be years away.. prolly.Fine by me,completly fine.
