Neil & the Horse have released two very different albums this year, this new one being a gigantic jam of a thing . . . Neil is in fine form, a little bitchin', a little rememberin', a lot of rocking out . . . the Horse just lock in magically & follow right along . . . wonderful work . . .
*Classic Rock Album*: Joni Mitchell, *Mingus* (1979) . . . Joni Mitchell recorded this album with jazz master Charles Mingus in the months before his death . . . he did not live to see it completed . . . but it is a quirky, sweet, well-made collaboration that brings out a wonderful spirit in both musicians . . . & a good record to hear for fans of either . . .
*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 6 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
*Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artists are from the 1967 acid pop compilation *With Love: A Pot of Flowers* . . . November is my heart's month, a time of beauty & passing, & I hope to enjoy its lovely melancholy vibe in best hope . . .

Neil & the Horse finish this massive release with some shorter songs, full of remembering and onriness, the rockin' goes on . . . sure hope he and his mates have many more records in them, but this is a good way to catch up with them & their current noise . . .
*Classic Rock Album*: Harry Chapin, *Heads and Tales* (1972) . . . This record has "Taxi," which made Chapin famous for a little while, & its treasures just go on from there . . . song tales of losers & lonelies, told with Harry's crack band squeezing for every detail & emotion . . . an album to just get lost in awhile. . .
*Storybook Time*: Chapter 7 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
*Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artist is Jerry Douglas & cuts from his fine new release *Traveller*. . . this time of year makes me remember long ago years & wonder at their deep effect, their echoes wanted & unwanted still & on . . .

*Classic Rock Album*: Billy Joel, *Cold Spring Harbor* (1971) . . . This is Joel's first solo album, & it's a good one. Some songs are sweet, some are cynical, all are the work of a very young man with a lot of talent to learn to harness . . . but there is no fluff here . . . Joel is determined to make good songs, & one day make great ones . . . he's on his way . . .
