Formed in New Jersey back in 1987, this great jam band has travelled a lot of miles & made a lot of great music . . . their new album is just a high beautiful thing, led by John Popper & his crazy mouth harp, a crack band keeping pace every step of the way . . . this one is a treat among treats . . .
*Classic Rock Album*: Quintessence, *In Blissful Company* (1969) . . . For fans of the psytrance band Shpongle, here is Raja Ram many years earlier, playing in an Indian-influenced psychedelic rock outfit . . . their debut album sounds a bit like Shpongle in the Eastern influences & vibe, but they have their own driving fine sound & vision . . .
*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 3 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .
*Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Orpheus & Eurydice: Making the Lyre* poems . . . & this week's featured artists are some of those on the epic *Occupy This Album* collection . . . the autumn is slowly approaching again, & this is a sweet thing to anticipate, amongst all the ruckus of any day . . .

The brothers are back, with all manner of prog-bluegrass-folkie tales of love & loss & vision . . . their plaintive stories are underpinned by simply gorgeous music-making, such that one can be overwhelmed by the beauty of it all on first listen . . . so a second & third & so on are needed . . .
*Classic Rock Album*: Humble Pie, *Town and Country* (1969) . . . This UK band featured former members of the Small Faces, Spooky Tooth, & of course future '70s solo superstar Peter Frampton . . . their second album is a lovely British thing, that rocks down deep but often gentle, often sublime . . . their cover of Buddy Holly's "Heartbeat" is worth the visit alone, but tis among many other gems as well . . .
*Storybook Time*: Chapter 4 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

This British singer-songwriter is new to me, but was around for decades touring & releasing albums, till his death in 2009 . . . this is an early album of his, full of tales & lovely playing, & ending with the sweetest little cover song . . . what a treat . . .
