The larger ones in back are about 4" tall. I see at least 2 phenotypes.

Here is a pic of my 2 biggest kats. What looks like a third plant between the 2 is a branch from the left one that grew out and up.

Was reading on wiki the other day about cathinone's in Khat and how they are structually symiliar to mephedrone, which I guess was sweeping the EU by storm for some time before being scheduled. Relatively hard plant to grow I understand.
They are actually easy to grow, imo. The problem most people have is using old seed which seldom sprouts. I was lucky enough to get a source for fresh seed and i just got in another shipment if anyone is interested. Here are some seedlings i grew from earlier batches of seed. They like sun and grow fine in a window or outdoors. Notice some are very red and look dark while one is pure green and a couple have green leaves and red stems. I forgot to include my largest green one which is about 8"

the khat garden grows rapidly and they need less water in order to grow them but difficult to manage due to large space they have. this can be grow in the small space and need no extra care.

The new ones are outside and have grown larger. They are in 1 gallon pots right now.
in our climate, khat (ghat) grows strong and fast outside. We only have to deal with those who would come to take clippings.
Judih, here nobody knows anything except pot of course. The leaf is so famous even old folks know what it is. Khat, coca plants, cacti, iboga, they might as well have come from home depot because no one knows what it is. I suppose in areas with a muslim population they will spot khat.

ah, nothing like the presence of barbed wire to give that 'no thanks' effect.
Our garden is the size of a postage stamp - we have this ghat that just won't stop, and a few planted seedlings that take off in pots. We've got a mini lemon tree and some aloe, tiny loquat trees, a rose bush, some lilies, a little sage and a few potted ficus.
along with the neighbours' cats and dogs, we're pretty crowded.
(not much cause for barbed wire - if someone wants some ghat and asks permission, it's fine with us)

Judih is overseas so it might be a little tricky. I have cuttings I can take and one rooted plant.

Yes, I'm on a kibbutz in Israel, in the western negev.
We've moved and have a smaller house but a larger yard. New khat/ghat is already showing tree qualities.
Mine is already taller than my head and i've topped it several times already. I have 2 trees now.
