Title: tequila blackouts
Post by: roach on March 06, 2011, 08:00:59 PM
I noticed the only time I blackout is when I drink tequila. It only takes a few shots and if i were to drink whiskey or rum there would be no problem. Anyone else have this problem or know someone that has the same thing happen from tequila?

I just get really sick if I drink it, even in small amounts which is odd because I have been known to put away a half liter of whiskey at a time as well as drinking tons of absinthe

come to think of it I dunno what would happen if I drank more than a shot of it(normally I feel shitty so I stop)

yes I've experienced the same; it's the point of too much, but bc of tequila's delay, the warning always too late! feel jilted of time even tho' can't blame anyone.  on the brightside, t in the right dose isn't just distilled liquor to me, much more psychedeliclike.  much respect for Agave!

Crazy. I really don't like alcohol, but will always have a soft spot for tequila.  During college, I drank it  past excess on a few occasions and have NEVER gotten sick because of it.

Sounds like the tequila gods have been tough on some of you. hehe

I have a friend that goes ballistic on 1-2 beers;  either passing out or getting obnoxious and mean...  By the same token, he hardly ever drinks, but when he does, he can easily handle 8-12 mixed drinks of Canadian Club and Coke.........

Yea, I'm not much of a drinker anymore and have no tolerance -- a glass of wine or a beer just makes me tired and cranky -- but in my youth when we used to drink to excess I never had any problem with tequila. I can remember splitting an entire bottle with a friend once, and truth be told I didn't even get that drunk.

Different forms of alcohol affect people differently. Yes, it's all ethanol in there, but I think the other things affect different people's metabolisms differently and effects, for example, the bioavailability of the ethanol.

I haven't blacked out since college, but if memory serves me when I did it was with things like sourmash (loved the George Dickel) or Southern Comfort (the thought of which today still makes me shudder!).

I love tequila.

I spend hours thinking about it.  It really has stopped me from drinking, because now I just slowly sip that delicious agave extract.

Perhaps you are all just drinking Jose and think that you are drinking tequila?  Definately avoid anything that is not 100% agave, go for an anejo, and avoid the top few brands of Jose, Patron, etc.

Also, though, tequila is mystical shit.  I do not recommend mixing it, or taking it as shots.  Sip it from a small glass.

It's 6:08 am but my friend El Tesoro is calling me!
