Title: Game Over for Spice, K2 and Other Synthetic Cannabinoids?
Post by: AliceTepes on December 09, 2010, 07:36:49 PM
according to Erowid the DEA posted a notice to schedule  most of the known synthetic cannabinoids. This would make all of the smoking blends that contain them illegal.

it's unfortunate because this will also make it very difficult to do any further research on these chemicals.

The other thing I worry about is that this may become a catalyst for the DEA to to raid unsuspecting head shops. I doubt the DEA will send out letters to people who are buying K2 and Spice saying "hey you bought something that we just made illegal you better get rid of it" they will most likely just swing in and arrest everyone... :bnope:

I've never smoked any of that stuff, so I don't feel capable of forming an educated opinion on the topic at hand.

Anyone have any experience with the substances mentioned in the OP?

I do.

They are cheap effective, and also untested on human beings. The latter being the only real drawback.

Honestly I liked them better than ganja. mostly because they do not make me paranoid and uncontrollably depressed(weed and me don't mix)

I must admit though that I find K2(and other such products) to be dangerous to an extent that weed is not, while I personally can't say that I got any bad reactions to them I have met people who have. and I have read about a lot of people being hospitalized from them.

more research needs to be done.

^that's the guy who first synthesized most of these chems...

Interesting, Alice. What are the primary effects?

I've just never felt the need to experiment in that direction.

what I get from it(and different people get different effects of course) is it's sorta like smoking really clean hash but speedier with a clearer mind. one of the things I don't like about weed is how I felt dumb and mentally slow when I used it when I was younger. you don't get that with K2/JWH-018.
I have not tried any of the other ones like spice but I know people who have and say that most of the synthetic cannabinoids have about the same feel. it has some interesting body effects a lot of people get numbness of the face, not in a way that they can't control their faces but they just can't feel them or they feel cold(but are not actually cold) It also differs from weed in the sense that after you come down you feel just as you did before you ingested it and doesn't last all that long 4 hours tops.

I normally would not be into this sort of thing(I have avoided all the new khat based chemicals like the plague) but it seemed novel to me and I did enough research where I felt that I could safely test it out. I am glad I got a chance to use it while it was still legal. I can't imagine what it was like when psilocybin/psilocyn and acid were legal, that must have been a great time.  I feel like as long as prohibition continues  we will see more of these chemicals that are one step ahead of the government, my only fear is that a lot of them are more dangerous and less tested than what they are based on.

So, these chems are Khat based? Interesting, if so.

We've discussed the use of khat by somalis in my class a couple of times.

sorry I might have made that confusing. the synthetic cannabinoids are not khat based. what I meant was to compare the khat based chems that are blowing up all over the scene recently, and just became illegal in England to k2 and like products.

the khat based chems are methylcathinone, cathinone, and most popular one is  4-methylmethcathinone aka mephedrone.
