On this week's show:
New Rock Album: Neil Young, *LeNoise* (2010) . . . Neil pairs up with producer Daniel Lanois (hence the playful album title) to produce a loud rock album in the old, simple vein, but with some nifty arty flourishes . . . with a couple of dark acoustic tunes along the way . . . when NY shows up with intent, & plugs on in, it can still be beautiful . . .
Classic Rock Album: Led Zeppelin, *Led Zeppelin* (1969) . . . The power of this debut album loses nothing with the years . . . LZ was out of the gate fantastic, & it's not just their influence that matters, it's the actual music . . . they played like rock gods because that's what rock bands aspired to . . . mount the high cliffs & shout down . . . happens even these days, just not always as many down below listening . . .
Storybook Time: Continuing Chapter Eight of *The Brotherhood of Eternal Love, From Flower Power to Hippie Mafia: The Story of the LSD Counterculture* by Stewart Tendler & David May . . .
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & various poems . . . & this week's featured artist is Joy Division, a UK post-punk band that made some cool & creepy rock music in the late '70s . . . the leaves are turning, October arrives, with its rain & cooler days, the year rolling through the long colors till all turns white . . .

On this week's show:
New Rock Album: Belle and Sebastian, *Belle and Sebastian Write About Love* (2010) . . . An impossibly catchy album, yet at moments grotesque & sweetly dark . . . this Scottish band comes across sometimes as delicate, fragile, otherworldly, but their bite is underneath, & their lyrics are often merciless & unsentimental . . . a strange group, a really, really good one too . . .
Classic Rock Album: Pink Floyd *A Saucerful of Secrets* (1968) . . . the Floyd's second album, & the last to feature Syd Barrett on some of its tracks . . . a spooky record, especially the title track, & as a whole a psychedelic masterpiece . . . there is madness & dark beauty all over this one . . . the pain is plainly evident too . . .
Storybook Time: Continuing Chapter Eight of *The Brotherhood of Eternal Love, From Flower Power to Hippie Mafia: The Story of the LSD Counterculture* by Stewart Tendler & David May . . .
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion . . . & this's week featured artist is the Lovin' Spoonful & some prime cuts from their late '60s work . . . the air cools, wraps 'round fingers & minds . . . the city is a stark study in shapes & angles at night . . . even the geese are hanging around the Public Garden for a little while longer before their departure hour comes . . . loveliness, in all directions . . .

On this week's show:
New Rock Album: The Posies, *Blood/Candy* (2010) . . . An indie rock band from Washington State, been around & gone & now back & yet here I am late on finally catching their wave . . . what pretty rocking fun music . . . shiny music, jingles, harmonies . . . but then the tear of the lyrics . . . these boys sing & play like a lot depends on them getting it right . . .
Classic Rock Album: Yes, *Close to the Edge* (1972) . . . Deep in the big belly'd time of progressive rock's heyday appeared this record . . . for lovers of the hugely ambitious rock epic (three songs comprise this work), this fits the bill . . . there is no holding back in grandness of design nor musical virtuosity . . . a master work of its kind . . .
Storybook Time: Continuing Chapter Eight of *The Brotherhood of Eternal Love, From Flower Power to Hippie Mafia: The Story of the LSD Counterculture* by Stewart Tendler & David May . . .
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion . . . & this's week featured artist is Santana & cuts from their fine new rock covers album, *Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time* . . . nights of late have gotten blustery, the kind when every blanket in the house must be found & set to work . . . the leaves are showing their secrets, & ready for the last, best party of the year . . .
