Irie,
OK so lets see how this grow-log goes.
What we have is four strains of Caapi seeds from AJ, in deepest darkest Peru!
All seeds will be treated the same. 48hrs soak in spring water with a few drops of peroxide....
White "Blancho"

Irie,
The Black.
So soaked for 36-48hrs or until they sink.

Shake'n'bake! Dusted them with rooting powder, mostly as a anti-fungicide.

Gently resting the seeds on a bed of verm & tenting...

looks like a good system to me
how did those c. edulis plants do for ya?
pm me bro
peace
Back on topic please. And "therealsanango", always keep forum type gripes/complaints to PMs in the appropriate forum. This place has nothing to do with Edot and never will. You are welcome to stick around here but lets leave the Edot talk out of threads. We have a long ugly history with them/him.
If the original members don't mind, I am thinking of deleting the past few posts as they have nothing to do with this thread. I guess I will leave it for Stonehenge, do what you wish with this one man. Given time, I would likely just delete them.
Enough said, thanks,
-Kemp
Irie,
The seeds are in the grow chamber, nothing happening yet!

I tend toward live and let live when it gets to off topic stuff unless its getting negative or attacking someone. I will agree this was headed that way so i went ahead and zapped out the off topic stuff. I don't feel like any of you were trying to break rules or do anything bad. Often times mods and admin have to make decisions on borderline things. Lets try to stick to the topic at hand if we can.
is o.k lets keep on the topic forget about that, well zaka do you have any updates photos for those germinating seeds.
it would be nice to see how they come up.

Caapi eedusuallytakes somewhere from 7-16 days, soI'm thinking he is probably just beginning to see sprouts... or should be soon.

Zaka, why the seeds are taking too long time to germinate? that's the only seed germinating from all the strains? here in the amazon floor it germinates in 10 days and in 20 days in a healthy plant.
maybe not using the proper soil, it has to be similar to the amazon soil, the place where you are growing your virolas look a very fertile soil.

Zaka, what do you put under the seeds? is that some form of perilite? and do you just mist the seeds everyday or what? I am interested in your treatment of them because you have gotten such good results. I at one point had some Cappi seeds but could never get them to germ.

Irie Alice,
I've found that medium coarse vermiculite, (from the garden center) is the best.
I just damp the verm & tent in a ziplock.
I don't usually have to spray them very often, once a week at most, so long as the verm is damp, it should be cool.

Irie,

Did the rooting hormone do anything beneficial like establishing your seedlings roots or their viability? :baffled:

Irie X,
I don't know if it did assist???
My intentions for using it was for an anti-fungal properties. At which I think it did help!
Considering the way I treat the germination process! I haven't even bothered check any of the trays in the last 10 days!!!

Irie,
Found another one up in the Black!

Irie,
So I'll attempt to give a proper leaf description of each of the 4 types.
They seem to be quite distinct, the most similar being the "Red" & "White". The "Black" being the most impressive.
"Black"; Lanceolate, Acuminate
"Yellow; Oblanceolate,
"Red"; Cordate
[attachment=0:1810rvr0]DSCN3747a.JPG[/attachment:1810rvr0]
"White"; Cordate.....Has some interesting hairs that are very distinctive!

So that will be 154days since the soak!
I'll keep the seeds going to see if any more turn up??

much appreciation Zaka for your continuing pictorial. all your plants look healthy & appreciate your love. I am curious about the outside conditions that they enjoy, like average humidity, night & day temperatures, and general latitude (tropical, sub-tropical, temperate). thank you Zaka!

Round here it's pick a jungle covered mountain!! 8)
I've started spreading out anyways, utilizing the neighboring lot..clearing off several fruit trees for the purpose....
Got some much cielo strain
I trimmed off a kg of vine sections (& about 4kg of leaf) and they don't look like they have been touched!!

BTW one again on the black....198 days......my question is when is it going to end???? :tea:
Irie,

Edited cos a year later I see the description was the wrong way round! My bad sorry! :-\
Irie,
Another on the Red....200 days.....
I think it's enough to say that given the right conditions, the seeds can take quite some time!
Caapi seeds should be treated with serious patience!
Now I hardly sprayed or watered them since the initial complete soaking of the verm.
Opened the bags maybe once a week or two, unless I saw a green sprout.....
Sprouts were then transferred to small pots of well draining soil. Watered completely.
I'm a big fan of letting the soil dry pretty much completely, before re-watering.
This encourages more root growth....as they search for the receding water.
I'll leave the germ trays there but I'm fairly sure they're done???
I'll up-date if there is any more.....
Respect,
Z
Irie,
Up-date on the "White"(?)....
Now flowering.....
Suspected Stigmaphyllon sp.
Respect,
Z
Looks like caapi flowers except for the color. Probably closely related.
Zaka, the plants you are calling "white" on this thread, look just like the seeds Alphonso sent me labeled "boayahuasca". The young leaves have that same reddish pink color. Does this make any sense in any known universe?
Irie,
This is the yellow starting to stretch....1st photo
& The ALICIA sp....Next 2
