Title: Ceylon?
Post by: Bram_ on August 18, 2010, 04:53:20 PM
Ceylon?  What plant species is Ceylon called?  I bought some nice canned tea at a local market here in Oregon.  This tea said it was 'Ceylon' tea.  Is this plant called 'Narcissus Ceylon'?  I looked on the web and all I could find about Ceylon is a plant called 'Narcissus Ceylon'.  Does anyone know the plant species of Ceylon?  This Ceylon plant seems to have effects like cannabis indica.  Anything helps, thanks.

The term "Ceylon tea" usually refers to normal tea that is grown in Sri Lanka (the island formerly known as Ceylon). It is supposed to be a high-quality tea, but it's made from the normal tea plant (Camellia sinensis).

Was there a lion on the tin?

anon; no there was never a lion on the tin.  This tea was called "peace" tea, and was only .99 cents, it says .99 cents on the can.
