The Des Moines Register is reporting that Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was found dead this morning at an Urbandale, Iowa hotel. He was 38.

Police said there was no evidence of foul play, though the investigation continues. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Our thoughts go out to Gray's family, friends and bandmates.

It has now been reported that Paul was found dead, crouching in a corner of his hotel room, surrounded by pills and with a rig on the bed. It seems that he liked to stay in hotels, even when he had an expecting wife at home just a few miles away.

Another rock star bites the dust. Not many can handle that gig. Fortunately for me, I missed out on too much too soon.
I think I am better off playing for $100 a show but sleeping in my own bed most nights.

I have seen first hand what even the most minuscule amount of fame does, during my "rock star" years 1986-1995. Barely survived!
