Hey all,
I'm new here. A friend on another forum said that you all could possible help. I'm just starting my trich garden and I am looking to add a few cactus. I have a few pc pachanoi and an un-ided trich peruvanoid. I'm looking for a small t. eileen and t. lumberjack cutting/pup. Does anyone have one to trade/gift/sell. I will send or pay up front and you don't have to send until you are happy with the deal. PM me if you can help a new guy. Thanks.

Welcome to spr.
You might be in luck with the lumberjack, as I believe an original source reads here daily. (jrl)

Thanks for the encouraging words LW. I really hope I can get my hands on these cactus. I've got the bug and wish I could grow one of all! Other than the ones I mentioned, I do have pups of a few clones but they won't be tradeworthy for quite some time. You have to start somewhere! I'm glad I found such a great place.

I've had a lumberjack for a bunch of years and while it appears healthy and robust, it has yet to pup.

LW...Do you happen to have a pic of your plant? I would love to see it. If it ever pups...its on my wishlist. Is there no way to aid in pupping other than cutting. I know they start at areoles. I've wondered about laying a rooted plant sideways to see if that would help lol. I've got a few more ideas but I will try them first. I hope I didnlt scare everyone by posting for plants so quickly. I'm starting from ground zero. And ya'll are my first forum to join and I plan on staying around. Any other interesting clones that are for sale or trade? Thanks all
Yep, I am indeed the guy that named the Lumberjack. Eccentro, I might have a few others you would like. You got a WOH short spine?
I will PM you later, gotta run now.
JRL...you named it?!! That's awesome. I would love to hear the story about how you happened upon the plant. Great name for a great cactus and well traveled. I've seen several beautiful pics and would be honored to give the real deal a good home, especially from the original 'founder'. That has been a goal of mine for a while. I don't have a WOH s.p. either. Sounds like my garden will get much more interesting! I will PM you later tonight. Thanks for the reply.
eccentro, I hope you don't mind if I step in here too, since I'm also looking for 'Lumberjack.' Oh, and thanks again for the PM earlier, by the way!
JRL, if you happen to have any more spare cuttings after your deal with eccentro, please let me know! I'd love to get my hands on one.

Here is the origin of the super hero know as 'lumberjack" It never ceases to amaze me that my little joke has become common parlance in the ethnobot underground.
I went out to this bill collectors office in Rancho Cordova, CA to give up some blood money. Leaving I saw a big Lumberjack building supply store. I was fairly new at growing cacti, I think I was still looking for my first peruvianus, I probably just had a few pachanois and maybe my first WOH which was sold as a peruvianus, but really looks nothing like one. I go out to the garden area and spot what looked to me like a pachanoi but with wicked big spines. It was in a large plastic pot , had several columns about 3 ft high. I think I paid about $45 for it. I later discovered it was strong in medicinal qualities.
As I learned more, I saw that it appears to be a peruvianus/bridgessi cross. Like a fat bridg or a peruvianus with less spines per pad. It's a fast grower, but doesn't seem to grow as tall as a pachanoi. It flowers occasionally, and once I got it to cross with a pachanoi. Sometimes the new growth has a beautiful blue color that love.
When I started trading it I gave it a fake latin name, "lumberjackius", which people soon shortened to "lumberjackus" and then "lumberjack"
Fantastic story JRL. Thanks for sharing. You got a great deal I would say. Your plant has really taken on a life of it's own and many , including me, thought it was 'folklore' at first. Glad to finally meet the 'founder'.
An interesting anecdote indeed. The historical back-story behind it adds something a little extra to it, at least in my opinion.
Don't worry kids, I have the management working on that bot that just posted a bunch of garbage above.

Spammer all gone. Thanks for the heads-up LW :smoke2:
