I've been doing a little thinking since Palin resigned her position the other day....
On the one hand, Palin might be toast politically, depending on the real reason why she abruptly resigned her governorship.
On the other hand, while I don't respect her intellect nor her socially conservative, "Do as I say, not as I do," manner, she apparently can do no wrong in the eyes of the far right. That fact, coupled with her fall from grace with the mainstream republican party (see the recent vanity fair article) leads me to believe Sarah might be a prime candidate for a socially conservative third party run in 2112. And I would like nothing more than to witness the dissolution of the unholy union of the christian right and the republicans.
Whatever happens, I'm guessing the republicans should be more afraid of Sarah Palin's next move than the dems.

"I'm a quitter! Vote for me for the highest office in the land!"
The conservatives I know (which nowadays outnumber the lefties!) think she's through on the national scene, except perhaps as a media figure or some such side show. Even my boss, who couldn't shut up about how awesome he thought she was during last year's election, thinks she made a really stupid move.
Me, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop here. It's gotta be a scandal or something brewing. If not, she's even more detached from consensus reality than I'd thought....
