Title: No effects... What am I doing wrong?
Post by: Darith on March 27, 2009, 01:29:28 PM
OK, so I bought some salvia "standardized 20x extract" today and I've looked around on the package and on the website it directed me to and I can't figure out what exactly the correct dosage is for this strength? The package says it contains 8 mg of salvinorin A, I read that 1 mg of pure salvinorin A is the "maximum" dosage so I divided the package into 8 seperate piles. I just want to make sure I have this right before I smoke this...

Also, should I start with a smaller dosage since this is my first time using salvia? I've used acid, shrooms, K, DMT, but I've heard that salvia is quite unique so, again, I just want to make sure I'm doing this safely.

People have different responses to it. IMO 20x is way to heavy for the first time. Some have full blown trips on plain leaf. A tiny pinch of 10x sent me to never never land like a 2x4 between the eyes.

Start slow!

I only smoke plain leaf.

I'm guessing just looking at a pile of 20x extract would send me into orbit.  :smoke:3

and man, you gotta realize that lw and I are both more intrepid than most. Salvia is best eased into.

Here's how friends and I were introduced to salvia...

I started with a bunch of plain leaf, two loaded water pipes and a sitter.  The goal is to consume as much smoke as humanly possible in a short amount of time. At first that meant smoking a bowl as quickly as possible and then starting on the second while the sitter reloaded the first so it would be ready when the other was cashed. My first real breakthrough came during the third session. (The first two took me to a place of cartoon-like visuals.) The crazy thing is that after the first breakthrough, subsequent sally sessions took less and less plain leaf get the same full-blown effect.  Even after prolonged vacations from smoking sally, two to three small puffs of leaf still send me over the moon.

The reason I like this approach is that a person has to really want to get off to make it happen the first time. Half-assed efforts send a person to cartoon land at best. Also, with the huge dose of plain leaf, pleasant after effects can be felt for up to 24 hours even if breakthrough is not achieved. And when a breakthrough occurs with this method, psychologically, its more of a victory rather than something to be feared.

Imo, a salvia trip is like walking a tightrope. Keep your mind in the here and now and the adventure can be prolonged. Succumb to fear or even fight the experience and the magic ends.

OK so I started with 1/8th of the package and felt absolutely nothing. So I smoked another 1/8th, still felt nothing. Then I emptied the remainder into the pipe and smoked it, and felt nothing... This morning I decided to try again. I ended up smoking the entire 2nd package within 5 minutes and guess what?? Nothing!

I smoked it in a wooden pipe (with screen) and kept the lighter on the herb the entire time I inhaled and I held it in for a good 25-30 seconds before exhaling. I just kept smoking it and smoking it and aside from being a bit lightheaded... I felt nothing. I was really looking forward to trying this and now it seems I'm immune or something?  I have followed all directions perfectly and nothing is happening.... What am I doing wrong?

It's hard to say. It could be that your body just needs to become acclimated to the chemicals (many people have experienced this). It could be that the product your purchased is bogus. I have a hard time imagining even the "hardest head, least acclimated" person not feeling anything if that were truly a "20X, standardized" product.

(A little off-topic, but don't believe the labeling claims on Saliva products. No one (with the possible exception of Siebert) really sells standardized products, and research on commercial preparations has shown little relationship to product strength and label.)
