Mixing Kratom with Other Herbs.   8)

Once again notes blew into my yard. I picked them up, and found that they seem to be some sort of research notes about mixing Kratom with other herbs. Could these be more notes from the cage of Jimmy the Ginea pig? Who knows, but I shall transcribe them, anyway.

Kratom ( Mitragyna speciosa ) is an interesting herb, for it can have stimulant effects and at the same time an opiate like sedative effect, as well. It's alkaloids, mitragynine and several relatives, are of the tryptamine class, and are closely related to yohimbine, see Erowid Kratom chemistry link; http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kra ... stry.shtml (http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kratom_chemistry.shtml) . Mitagynine is also more distantly related to the harmala alkaloids, LSD, LSA, DMT and many other hallucinogen type drugs. However on its own, hallucination have only been reported in cases of an amphetamine psychosis like symprtoms. In such cases the kratom was used to extreem excess for several days in a row, Sangun Suwanlert Bulletin on Narcotics, 1975; Vol 27(3): 21-27;  http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kra ... nal3.shtml (http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kratom_journal3.shtml)  .

Whatever the case, kratom is a good candidate for synergy effective herbal combos. According to these notes the effects can be dragged one way or another depending upon which substance(s) it is mixed with.

For example, if it is mixed with a sedative like Skullcap herb, wild dagga, mother-wort herb, Valerian root. kava kava root, or even catnip, it made the overall effect more along the opiate side of things.

However, if the kratom is mixed with a stimulant herb like coffee, China tea, cola nut, cocoa, mate herb, Ephedra Sida cordifolia, yohimbe bark, betel nut or tobacco, the overall effect tends to be more along stimulant lines.

The only hallucinogenic/psychedelic substance that caused a synergy in that direction was a Kratom and Salvia divinorum combo. In such a case the combined effect was liken to a combo of S. divinorum and a small dose of DMT. According to these notes when an herbal LSA and/or mescaline source was mixed with Kratom, an increase in the hallucinogenic effect did not seem to occur. However, there did seem to be an MDMA-like enhancement to the overall effect of such a combo. No increase in visions though had been reported in those cases. just an glazed over empathetic feeling.

The ONLY way I do kratom is sprinkled on shisha-tobacco in a hookah.  Very small amounts are quite active (and can even OD you after a few hours) when VAPORIZED as in a hookah.  We often add flowers to the top of the kratom, like lavender, or jasmine, or gardenia (rose is the next one lol).  Salvia, calea, and heimia are in the current mix.

Drinking turkish coffee is a must with this, and smoking bowls :D

Thanks for the info. I checked out the Erowid links, and it seems that any hallucinogenic effects were only reported from long term use - I seem to remember reading something on another forum about someone's psychedelic experience from a massive kratom tea. Anyone have any idea about this kind of dosing?
