On this week's show:
New Rock Album: Frightened Rabbit, *The Midnight Organ Fight* (2008)...This young Scottish band has made an amazing second album...they rock some, they bring the acoustics around some...either way, they are a powerhouse sound and are making some great rock and roll...first heard them one long night of working for my job, and they brilliantly got me through...
Classic Rock Album: U2, *Achtung Baby* (1991)...it was a random hearing of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" at a McDonald's in downtown Portland that led me into an evening of listening to U2 albums...hard choice in deciding which one to play this week...this album is perfect, captures the band making every kind of great music imaginable, & if there is anyone out there who doesn't know this Irish band's music well, this album shows why they are so revered by rock lovers...
Storybook Time: Continuing Chapter Eighteen of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is Led Zeppelin, cuts from their recently remastered 1976 live album, *The Song Remains the Same*...yesterday was May Day, a day for all workers to remember the fights for rights past and look ahead to what comes, downtown Portland reverberated with May Day parader shouts!!! Whoooweeeeeeeeee!!!!

On this week's show:
New Rock Album: Steve Winwood, *Nine Lives* (2008)...As a member of Traffic in the late '60s and early '70s, and as a solo artist since, Winwood has made a lot of amazingly high, groovy, delicious music...but not this great in awhile...this album soars with the brilliant funk of a man who looks forward some, backward some, and all around...mmm mmm...
Classic Rock Album: Pearl Jam, *Ten* (1991)...completing a circuit of major Seattle rock bands from the early '90s (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Alice in Chains), this week's show features this amazing debut album, hard and deep and wild with passion...nothing sub-genre about it, this is rock and roll at its finest...
Storybook Time: Continuing Chapter Nineteen of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is the Leaves, a fairly obscure Los Angeles band that had a moment or two of glory with its hit cover of "Hey Joe" (pre-Hendrix version) and the album by the same name...Portland had some really hot days recently, now back to its mellow gloom...but the world is getting noisier, and there is hope hanging from every branch, pick some!!

On this week's show:
New Rock Album: Death Cab for Cutie, *Narrow Stairs* (2008)...it's been three years since this Seattle-area band blew up the world with *Plans*, and now they're back with a decided turn for the dark...musically adventurous, lyrically strange...a longer time in finding its deep fine groove, but it's there...
Classic Rock Album: Creedence Clearwater Revival, *Pendulum* (1970)...this was the final album by CCR as a quartet...they pulled out every stop for it...the rockers, the rants, the beautiful crazy music only this band made, and for too short a time...
Storybook Time: Chapter Twenty of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is Led Zeppelin, more cuts from their recently remastered 1976 live album, *The Song Remains the Same*...moving along in time, back and forth, keep an eye for the sun, for the best grove of trees, for what music becks you near, for dreams that linger all day...
