Title: I 'm folding
Post by: senorsalvia on January 11, 2008, 10:57:59 AM
I've felt this coming on for some time, but I was wavering back and forth..  Now, it's settled..  senor has decided to throw in the towel and not vote.  I just don't see the point in voting for any "lesser"....  I've got no inherent axe to grind about women, nor, minority candidates;  I just can not in good faith support either candidate...  To my mind, Hillary is the "old Dem Party", with enough accumulated 'back room baggage', that she carries, to  make her, ultimately, an ineffective leader....  Obama, is, as Willow stated, the product of the boilermaker machine that is Cicago and the Dems at their most ruthless....  Actually, I think that deep down, that Hillary and Obama have an idealogical hope and dream for a better day, more true freedoms etc.  Sadly, I have lost the belief that either candidate would stand up and truly lead, truly become a catalyst for fundamental change.... -----  This isn't at all, an easy decision for me.  It's one that I'm assuming will haunt me for a very long time, but, that's just how it goes.....  Damn, I really hate things being like this....  Sal is gonna go get stupidly drunk now;  maybe lift a glass to what coulda-shoulda been.........

I hear you bro.

I'm still on the Obama bandwagon. And I've heard nothing from the candidate or his opponents to sway me away from that endorsement.

However, If'n Hillary gets the nod from the dems, I doubt I'll be voting, come next November. (Unless a suitable independent candidate emerges.)

I know what you mean, Sal. No way would I vote for Hill-billy or any of the current republicans. Obama seemed like a possibility, a hope for change. But what do we really know about him? One thing I liked about him was the fact that the establishment seemed to be against him. That is always a good sign. The media is solidly behind Hillbilly and that is a bad sign. Some people just vote for whoever is the D or R. No thinking is involved, just look for the letter and vote.

I was going to vote third party when it looked like H had it locked up. I may still do that. Voting third party is taking power away from the big 2. If you vote for Green or Libertarian, you get them more federal matching funds plus more credibility. If the big 2 had any competition, they would start listening to the people. Right now they are not listening.

I've voted 3rd party in the past, but I have come to feel that other than some statistical blip on the screen, that voting 3rd is ultimately a useless effort that has no true effect other than to give the disaffected voter a sense of righteousness and closure....  The fed matching funds sounds like it's alright, but really, to what end????  Unless people really trully act on their passion and dreams, and do so in massive numbers, the status quo will remain for the long and lackluster forseeable future...  Sorry to sound so negative, but hey, it is AmeriKKKan politics we're talking about
