I heard some guy call in about this on C-SPAN today. I read it and it definintly sounds like something that could be abused. I haven't been paying close attention to the plant community these days so it might be a hot topic. But we don't need anymore of this shit. I heard about the Patriot Act in the ethnobotanical community months before the news ever reported anything about it. We we way ahead of the curve on that one. So here is this one.
Write your senator and congressman, AND mail some news agencies. Many of the news agencies reported negatively on the patriot act when it came out, they'll do the same for this.

It looks like another layer of wasteful bureaucracy which we do not need more of. They do include the word "violence" in all the things they claim to be against but like you say, govt can and probably will abuse anything it gets ahold of.
I have the hardest time following the text of legislation. Can one of you summarize it for me?
