I know Howard Charing, England: *Conference Presenter and he will be speaking on Alchemy! Yes!
Title of Presentation:
Alchemy in the Amazon
The 16th century alchemist and philosopher, Paracelsus, introduced in his Treatise the Doctrine of Signatures, the concept that the Creator has placed his seal on plants to indicate their medicinal uses.
Underlying Paracelsus’ treatise was the premise that nature was itself a living organism which must be considered an expression of “the One Lifeâ€, and that man and the universe are the same in their essential nature.
This although does not play a role in modern medicine, this understanding has a long history most notably introduced by the 16th century alchemist and philosopher Paracelsus, who in his famous “Doctrine of Signatures†treatise proposes his premises which are based upon the view that Nature itself is a living organism which must be considered as an expression of the One Life, and that man and the Universe are one in their essential nature, and that there is a ‘magnetic’ attraction between every part of nature and its corresponding part in man. He held that the inner nature of plants may be discovered by their outer forms or signatures. Paracelsus also applied this principle to food, “it is not in the quantity of food but in it’s quality that resides the Spirit of Lifeâ€.
Even with this in mind, Paracelsus’s premise is a far more subtle , spiritual, and in essence shamanic then it’s rational minded critics deride, in as much the outer form is the just the gateway (i.e. an outer sensorial portal ) to the inner spirit or consciousness of the plant.
Amazonian Shamans, vegetalistas and perfumeros recognise the spiritual powers and qualities of plants in many ways: the colours of the flowers, their perfumes, the shape and form of their leaves, where they are growing and in what ways, the moods they evoke, and the wider geographical, cultural, landscapes they occupy.
The doctrine of signatures treatise per se is not something known by Amazonian shamans, but they understand the principles behind it well enough, that nature has spirit and can communicate with us. These principles are not regarded as fanciful at all, but so important that they can save lives.
This presentation explores how the doctrine of signatures is understood and applied in it’s many forms in the Amazon.
Howard G. Charing is an international workshop leader on shamanism. He has organised specialist retreats to the Amazon Rainforest since the late 90’s. He is the author of the book, Plant Spirit Shamanism.
I met Howard on one of his retreats, had an incredible experience. He's going to be having another retreat in Iquitos one week before the Conference and I'll be there again. I fly too far just to be in Peru for the Conference for a week.
There has been so much discussion lately about brujos that I thought it best if we meet a couple. How best to understand them than directly from their own mouth. And how best to know how to protect yourself from them. So we're working out a situation where they would hold a few workshops where you would be taught what kind of tricks they pull and how to protect yourselves from them. One quite specific way is via Arkanas. These are magic incantations that are spoken and given to a person for personal protection. There are other ways as well.
Howdy,
Wow this sounds amazing! Wish I could attend!
Peace

Yes, shaping up very nicely!
We just received another confirmation. Ananda will be here with us for the Conference as well! He was at the 3rd Conference but he spoke rather quickly as the evening was wearing on and we still had to see Jan Kounen's documentary: Other Worlds. Jan was with us too and I think he'll be back again for the 4th Conference. That documentary is of the Shipibo indigenous and I think it should be available for rent at Block Busters, etc.. If not, check out: Renegade This is is fictional account, western setting, cowboys and ayahuasca.
There is going to be a Pre-Conference Tune-Up the week before the Conference begins. It is for experienced people who have taken la medicina many times. It is being held at the Soga Del Alma maloca and will accept no more than 15 people. Cost is $200 USDs includes everything once you get to the maloca. If there is anyone here interested, please PM me.
Thanks!
It's Carnival here in Iquitos and water baloons are legal and they are flying everywhere!
We very pleased that we have another Confimed Presenter for the Conference in July: Robert Forte
Many of you know him from his book: Entheogens and the Future of Religion.

The Conference now has Confirmation from Col. John Alexander.
He will be doing a workshop on Remote Viewing that will include the background, theory, application, and a preliminary introduction to the RV process.
The reason I invited him to come is because we often find ourselves in strange locations when in Ceremony and many don't understand how they got there. This man is a pro at it and now is willing to teach us the techniques.
To be clear: Sometimes when you are in Ceremony, you discover that you are viewing another location, your spirit has traveled to another location. You are Remote Viewing but you don't know how to repeat it.
He'll be giving workshops on this technique.
