Igot back to Austin this weekend and took in a good pair of sets at Austin's home to blues rock, Antone's.
Opening were The Sonnier Brothers, with an unusual line up of three guitarists and bassist and singing together at the front of the stage.
They had a great time it seemed despite their drummer having bailed on earlier in the day. Each guitarist had their share of the spotlight.
Headlining were The ARC Angels, back again after a hiatus of many years.
Just a rocking good time, 6 feet from the stage with a great friend.
It was good to get back.
The next outing we are considering is The Continental Club.
Maybe I'll get to see Captain Travis there some time.
Is Jo-el (sp?) one of the Sonnier Brothers? I had a record by him years ago, I remember he did a great version of Richard Thompson"s Tear Stained Letter.
Hey if'n you are in and around Austin, check out The Texas Sapphires, my good buddy Bob Pearce has recently joined the band and he says it's a happening thing.
The Sonnier Brothers Band are from Houston:
Dane
Len
Jackie
Dustin
Chad
No Joel.
They have been around about 12 years.

Included in the set was a rocking cover of "Love is Alive" by Gary "Dream Weaver" Wright.
