On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, *And This is Our Music* (2003)...this San Francisco band has been around some years, & I sadly admit their strange name kept me from seeking them out...foolish soul...their music ranges from moody to fierce to murky to finely melodic...a real find for anyone needing a freak's lift up...
Featured Classic Rock Album: Pink Floyd, *Wish You Were Here* (1975)...the Floyd's run of albums from the late 1960s to its sporadic cease in the early 1990s is impressive by any calculation...this album dedicates the band's attention to their founder and resident specter, Syd Barrett...beautiful, cynical, dark, soaring...one steps in & the world falls away, there is no world...
Storybook Time: Epilogue to *The Long Trip: A Prehistory of Psychedelia* Paul Devereux...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is Creedence Clearwater Revival, a variety of live music from their shows around the turn of the 1970s...lookee, lookee, it's June, we haven't stopped the War yet, but they haven't opened any new fronts or pushed us all into cages either...hope! A piece of solid ground! There will be more!

On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: Tuatara, *East of the Sun* (2007)...I recently discovered this indie rock supergroup--whose members include Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Justin Harwood (Luna), Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), and Skerik (Critters Buggin')--a few days ago, but damned if they are still little known as an outfit even after releasing nearly half a dozen albums...their new one rocks well, is pretty, & weaves occasionally into some very strange, delightful spoken word territory...a true pleasure...
Featured Classic Rock Album: The Grateful Dead, *American Beauty* (1970)...just gorgeous...dark, funny at times...anyone wishing a first step in understanding why the Dead haunt modern music should listen through this album...beautiful on so many levels, from the profane to the philosophical...needs no further words hear to bespeak its genius...
Storybook Time: Epilogue to *The Long Trip: A Prehistory of Psychedelia* Paul Devereux...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is The Beatles, a real treat too: tracks from their legendary Rooftop Concert played from atop Apple Studios in London on January 30, 1969, the last time the Fab Four jammed live, to some startled, happy listeners! Here comes the summer, and sun, let's go!

On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: The Appleseed Cast, *Peregrine* (2006)...this Kansas band's musical intensity does not let up for the run of this album, in both the quiet and ferocious moments...the Wikipedia claims this album tells the "haunting story of Peregrine, a girl who is murdered by her father and who comes back to haunt him as a ghost"...
Featured Classic Rock Album: Silver Apples, *Silver Apples* (1968)...I listened closely to this album recently, not knowing when it had been released, and I could not determine this by the music...otherwordly, deeply trippy, timeless, creepy, beautiful, it still travels well nearly 40 years after its release...
Storybook Time: Epilogue to *The Long Trip: A Prehistory of Psychedelia* Paul Devereux...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is Gordon Lightfoot, a singer-songwriter whose dark, sometimes funny, sometimes tragic songs haunted the 1970s, and many of them still float with potency...thrilled for this new show as for them all!

On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: Warm in the Wake *Gold Dust Trail* (2007)...a short new album from this obscure indie rock band that hasn't release new work in several years...music of the shady tree sunny afternoon kind, when the smoke is sweet, and the drink in your hand might have a little bit extra to it, a mind treat or two...delicious...
Featured Classic Rock Album: Chicago, *Chicago Transit Authority* (1969)...stunning first album from this seminal jazz-rock band, heaving the whole of their formidable gifts for music and lyric into the maelstrom of their day, finding therein some beauty, some hope, much anger, and the ineffable wish to do better and feel better...
Storybook Time: Epilogue to *The Long Trip: A Prehistory of Psychedelia* Paul Devereux...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is The Mamas & the Papas, a quartet whose harmonies and sweet, sometimes deep, sometimes silly lyrics washes the deep, dark places free a little while of familiar woes...hey! wait! look! that bird of happiness! watch it go! follow!!
