performance poetry piece I've been doing for past 8 years with many different musicians.......
........"ALL ABOARD!"..........
train alive...whisk me away
over that hill....down that dale
I hear a promise...gonna be a
new day adventure......movement
escape.....rattle....rattle train
slow moving in the rain...it's a dark
thursday morn and I'm goin' to
Baltimore...just perhaps to be reborn
I see those big city lights....think about
all me and my wife's fights.....happily
married man jumpin' from the fire
sizzling in the frying pan......but the
hope is just...gotta find that rope
don't cha know it's hangin' out there
go ahead...grasp it....pull myself in
rescue ala rin-tin-tin...still ridin' that train
I see blue t.v. screens out the window
little housing developements row by row
all watchin' blue t.v. screens....rattle....rattle
don't ya know people there's so much to learn
the fact that love will burn....a hole in yer heart
don't let it in there cause it's a bear...devouring
all that it touches...I'm telling you people it'll
probably leave your poor soul on crutches
do you wonder why?...are you anxious for
another try..."no" says I....but I'll die in the tryin'
L-O-V-E take it or leave it....fatal is the fool livin'
by the golden rule...secure in his romance....even
tho he can't even dance......now if it was a snake
it woulda bit ya....you can't see the forest for the trees
love will leave ya down on the ground on your knees
like a stiff breeze up on the hill....it'll cure all your ills
like a bowling ball and your the pin...it'll knock you down
again and again and again...good people just remember
what I'm tryin' to tell ya here tonite...remember love
love conquers all...till you inevitably fall.................
