If you use iTunes and have an always-on internet connection, you might ought to check out the Technicolor Web of Sound radio station, under Radio > 50s/60s Pop.
Aside from the bizarre array of psychedelic artists (listening to the band Orange Bicycle right now), they play strange radio ads from the day. I've heard Zappa and Beefheart played on this station, as well as many "mainstream" psy-artists like Donovan, The Beatles, early Neil Young, Yardbirds, etc., etc., but also so many freakin crazy bands I've never heard of (Ant Trip Ceremony!?!?). I don't think they play anything past 1970, but it seems the pile of groovy artists from the period is still endless as probably 5 or 6 out of 10 artists are new to my eyeballs/earballs.
So....if you want some good work tunes, plop on Technicolor Web of Sound.
I also like Ambient > Drone Zone for less informative sounds.

P.S. The District Six??? Who the @#$@ is that???
Sorry, but "Pandora's Golden Heebie Geebies" has got to be the best song title ever. I am now an official collector of music by The District Six.
