Title: jammin' at joe's garage
Post by: gnrm23 on August 29, 2006, 12:28:14 PM
so last friday after work, joe had open invite for folks to stop on by & party down...

i had stopped by the night  before to help set up --- put my little fender princeton tube amp (with the screamer transistor pre-amp built in) & the phase-shifter in with the wall of amps being set up, & dropped off the ovation, & the univox electric... (& assorted small pecussion instruments, & a 5-string banjo "just in case") & we "rehearsed"...
& i sorta shooed everybody home around 11 pm so we could actually ummmm "get it on" come friday night...

friday for sure, & the beer was flowing,  the pop-up camper was pretty much hot-boxed by sundown...

& my boss had already offered me money to NOT sing, hehheh...

but when the band was cookin' (as for me, i had already been goofin' with somebody's bass, a slow blues in E, okay & then sat out...) with a fast enough, but generically "open" electric blues... i waved a lyric sheet at the guitarist(s) & was waved over to a microphone... & started belting out "well, i  see you got your brand new leopard pill box hat..."

& lo, it was _very much fun_ indeed...

(& jammin' once a year just ain't often enuff, imho...)

Not near enough. You know I don't do enough playing just for fun, though I alway have big fun playing.

I've been going over to friends house (he plays guitar, mandolin and violin). Latley we been doing some rehearsing for an upcoming show, but sometimes we just jam away.

One thing I have to say is, the better you get the more fun it is, at least it has  my experience.

Let there be songs to fill the air!  Sing on brother, play on drummer!
