Title: Hey
Post by: Anonymous on January 08, 2005, 04:11:04 PM
first, thanks to Andy of Yage.net for setting up this site...second, it was my idea to do it, came to me on bus to work yesterday...if there is any fallout from doing this, i should bear responsibility for pushing it into being...

but we need to keep in contact, and decide what to do next should spf admin eddy not reappear online, nor anyone find out what's going on with him...

the site, whether the regular one is revived/recovered, or this one, needs people to run it, to keep in touch, it's a shame it devolved down to one person...i hope eddy is ok, and if nothing else it would be good to get him our love and fraternity no matter what happens...and then we need to be smart and make sure it doesn't happen again!

cause your not cool enough!  :P

Tell eddy to get his ass in gear or i'm adding spiritplants.com to the domains to steal list.

And fall out? what fall out, there is nothing to fall. there is no structure left.

Feels like the tsunami came through spf and washed it away too.
Title: Thanks, I'm glad we can carry on

Thank you, Raymond and Andy. And thanks to Eddy too, I hope you're well wherever you are.

I've only been on Spiritplants a few months (thank you to Jupe for telling me about it), but I sure like it and I am glad the community can continue.

I don't know how to contact anyone else.

hi  8)

I would offer to help in some way, but I seem to be the cyber equivalent of the kiss of death (for threads, forums etc), so I hesitate, as I wouldn't want to be the cause of the ending while aborning. Plus I'm just so socially inept  , but hey, if you are desperate enuff, let me know how I can help.

I'm writing a post to start a discussion about what action to take

Good move  guys, Loki, Andy.

Well it's odd all this, and its probable, it's terminated.
We could always keep investigating and wait till something or someone comes out about it, might have been that Fodgers fuck?

Anyhow,  forever SPF!!! all good things come to an end but our friendships are something that we can build and continue anywhere.
we will surely be able to raise funds if needed.

Well to all amerry Solstice and hope to shit the old SPF isnt done for!!!:(

Hi people
Yeah, the site going down like that was just too bad.
I found my way to http ://www.entheology.org/forum.htm just after Toostoned, Jupe and a few other did.
I am concerned abount Winder a bit as he/she went away on a trip about the day before SPF vanished into the spirit World!
The people on the entheology site seem very decent and helpful, Ichinen especially seems to be a very interesting, helpful and cheerful soul who has obviously managed to reap the benefits from her experiences with Sally.
The feeling over there is a bit different than SPF for some reason I can not at this time put my finger on. Maybe there SPF had been going longer, had more long term members and the atmosphere was maybe a little sharper due to that. Anyway, glad we can all keep in touch till something gets sorted out.

Hello Everyone,

I haven't often posted at SPF, but have fostered close friendships with some of the members over several years.  It's heartening to see that you're getting the word out to each other about this forum, so you can at least maintain connections with each other.  My heart goes out to you all, for the loss of your archives, as well!  Hopefully, that's temporary, and all will be back up and running soon.

Something occurs to me while writing this:  That the site went down when it did feels, in a way, like a 'tsunami' right here in Cyberia - the microcosm of the macrocosm (the world of Consensia) - with our Spiritplants brothers and sisters suffering the loss of their community...

I agree with cen on this one; its time to share the burden. I'm guessing we haven't seen the last of spf, but I'd shore like a little more cyber-stability, one way or the other.

Btw, I'm guessing I'll have some money to throw at this project in the next while.

Well, I'm still fairly optomistic.  It'd be a real shame to have truly lost all that brilliant discourse, lunacy, personal insight, experiences, poetry and pictures that had accumulated over the years.

That's what I keep thinking, it truely is an artifact from this sector and time frame. we all spilled a lot of life on those pages.

Yeah, I hear you'se guys. Its (mostly) out there for posterity, anyway, on disc somewhere. But I don't fear a new start. I'd rather let the dead bury the dead and just be here now. hehe

I finally found my way here, thanks Varja. I'm Stonehenge in case it calls me guest or something. Man that was a blow to lose spf but we could all see it coming. It went down several times for a period of a few hours or a day or two and finally went down for the count.

Count me in if you need a few bucks to get something set up. Eddy promised to give me a snail mail addy to send $$ to and he never did so I'll send it to the new effort. I think we had something that was worth keeping. I'd like to get my pm's back but I guess that's out of the question. Is this the new site or is this temporary? I'll post the url to the 8 or 9 sites I post at.

Well, I'm here, but I have this dilema: should I use my real Nym, or this spoonerized one I had to adopt before, owing to some software glitch in the forum formerly known as SPF. Ah...the decisions....
Title:
Post by: VajraPirate on January 12, 2005, 05:28:17 PM
You mean your real name's not Amomynous?

I was a little pissed at my mom.. Growing up Varja the Pirate... Kids would always gang up and tackle me... force me to wear eye patches and parrots, make me walk imaginary planks. Once they even played keep away with my crossed dorje.

Kids can be so cruel.
Title:
Post by: Ashoka on January 12, 2005, 06:15:54 PM
Varja, I know what you mean.. When the kids in my childhood neighborhood would see me, they would immediately yell "ASS HOOKAH, ASS HOOKAH" in chorus - it was a though time and I spent most of my time in a dark, damp cellar playing amiga.

Thanks mom..

;)

Anyways, great to see the enthusiasm.  I really, really hope to see SPF up and running again.. But while we're here lets make the best of it..

Since most of the crowd is prolly aware of what a puter illiterate I am, I can offer only some bucks to the cause....  Agreed we had  a great community at SPF, and should not let the bonds nor the vibes forged there be gone to oblivion....In the long run, I'd imagine Eddy will reappear and all will be as before, but 'ya never know....  Let me suggest we hang out here, save a few buks in the meantime, to offer Eddy. and see what develops....   Side Note... to those wondering about the Hive or Rhodium:  On WWW. wetdreams w.s. they seem to be in the loop that states it was a service provider dispute/decision, and they will return in full in a few weeks.............  Let's all do our parts to keep cyber entheology alve folks :P --------senorsal

What I can't understand is that a chap on SPF recently offered Eddy stable server space for FREE...!
It would probably have taken less than a day to switch over to the offered space. Any sign of Winder signing in here?

Yep, I am here.
If you are looking for someone in particular, check the memberlist.
I checked the memberlist and there is no member named Guest.
I see that my first 1 or 2 posts were posted with Guest as the name, as were other members' posts.

Not a very secure board if you don't have to be logged in to post so your post is posted as being from Guest.
Such will make some topics very difficult to follow.
I not bitching, just observing.

I won't be so active until:
funding is requested
the plant forums are back (some interesting stuff going on and trading needed with salvia)

Are you saying, you wont be very active untill the plant forums are back or are you saying they are back?
Just tried SPF again but it is still down. At least for me it is.

Hi Bongo:

Vacation in Canada was funny and indeed wintery.
Here it was 65 degrees recently and we have scarcely had any snow, mostly rain and fog.

I meant that while this interim site is here there isn't much for me to do.
Without the categorical structure that there was previously, there are no chemistry preps to offer suggestions for and no forum for me to moderate.

I have no suggestions for how to set up a new site.
I can help pay for it. (Why not? I post at among the highest daily rate.)

I would rather save some of what I have to post for a categorical structure more like was was had before, rather than having it scattered about or having to do it twice, that's all.

So to clarify, I haven't seen that the previous site of forums.spiritplants.com is back.  I think nitroburn clarified that it was fubar-ed pretty well for now.

I think a lot of people at the http://www.entheology.org/forum.htm (http://www.entheology.org/forum.htm) site would welcome your expertise both in and out of your professional field, in the interim. Just a thought.
Toostoned and other people have got some really exquisite looking flowers this year which they have posted up there.
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable and no doubt well earned vacation.

Yeah winder,

Till eddy gets around to fix his DNS on the domains, there is nothing.

I have no previous info to really go on. If I had Just the IP of the old server I  might be able to figure more out, but I haven't been able to scrounge it up.

Hell, If its JUST the expired domain issue, the server may still be up and running, just has no domains pointed to it. But, It could just be he canceled the server or missed payment :(

I really wish eddy was around to speak for himself but i've made every attempt to contact him except calling him. I wonder if the #'s in his DNS info are real  Anways, if he is completly gone, it will be a couple months before we could even get spiritplants.com

If there any information that can be retrieved from our cookies that would be of help?

It seems like an obvious source, but then again maybe the question hasn't been asked.

Thanks.
