Here's an interesting article I found, I'm sure some of you have read it before. It's a long read, but well worth the time.

Scanned the article quickly. Ecellent stuff. Will read fully later today... Looking forward to a fine read... Thanks for the posting....
Yes it is interesting and ive heard of this before.
Many religions have their origins based on using mind altering plants even though some of them deny it such as christianity.
Im pretty sure the Oracle of Delphi actually happened in greek mythology. Im not saying there is a Zeus, Hades, Apollo or any of those gods , but under the influence of some of those plants they used such as ergot, henbane, mandrake..etc what they visioned or heard probably did happen.
It is believed that it was henbane that they were using and on that you probably could communicate with the gods such as with Apollo.
You know Soma: divine mushroom of immortality is a good book but unfortunatley it is out of print so you need to find it on amazon or ebay. I dont have time right now to read it but i will when i have more time on my hands.
I believe christmas has to do with Amanita mushrooms. People will say no christmas isnt based on the use of a delirient mushroom but i think it may be.
Amanita muscaria grows under fir trees. It is found in temperate climates such as the area of India in the Himalayas.
It is read and white and the fir trees are green. Sound like the christmas colors: red, white, green?
Reindeers flying is what one would feel if they ate the mushrooms.
Shamans in Siberia used to drink urine from the reindeers since it was metabolized and even though it sounds gross it gets rid of some of the unwanted things in the mushroom but still gives you the psychoactive ingredients.
Presents under the tree are the mushrooms. They were probably thought of as presents at first!
Christmas is based on the use of a mind altering mushroom, how many people would like to admit that?
Probably none since drugs are bad but its ok to smoke like a chimney or drink booze.
Thats America for you. Tobacco, Caffeine and Nicotine are socially acceptable but anything else is bad.

One of the finest honest books is "The Ghost Dance: The Origins of Religion" by Weston LaBarre, Anthropologist of Duke University who, along with Dick Schultes ate Peyote in a Native American Church Ceremony in the mid 1930s. LaBarre then wrote the definitive book on Peyote religion called, "The Peyote Cult." A book which is now used by every member of the Native American Church to set up their new charter groups across the USA.
He also published seeveral cool papers on entheogenic plants. Some are listed inthe schol;arly articles section of my site at:

enjoy the reading. Many new articles to come
The X-mas traditions about Santa, his reindeer and the elves were all based upon things like the Northern Shaman who wore red coats and the reindeer herding peoples like the Sami ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_people) ). It is all so ironic, yet the conservative powers that be still deny the connection to the AM mushroom that is also associated with those people.

Agreed, but, without America well China wouldn't be a super exporter of bullshit among other things. Sure i know, it is a lose lose situation. The question is, do you know that?
On another note, if you hang out with the right social groups, it is a tad different. It is so easy to place blame on others. Now, I am not calling you out but, please, do take a look at your own life.
One last note, I do not deny that America, as a whole, considers tobacco, caffeine and nicotine to be the nectar of the gods.

Well, they are :)
Yeah Christmas is based on using the delirient mushroom Amanita muscaria.
Alot of people wouldnt like to admit it but at least it could be true if you think about it.
The idea of putting presents under the trees came from the fact that amanita mushrooms naturally grow underneath fir trees in the wild. Not only fir trees, birch and others, but firs are pretty common to find them under.
Ok the christmas colors: green, white and red. Red and white come from the mushroom while green comes from the evergreen tree. Deciduous trees wouldnt work since in Siberia and elsewhere they dont have any leaves at this time. Evergreens are the only trees with leaves at this time of the year when Christmas is celebrated.
Nobody wants to admit christmas as well as reindeer flying came from ingesting mind-altering mushrooms. Reindeer eat them as well ive heard and shamans drink the urine from reindeer. I guess it gets rid of the bad stuff but keeps the stuff you want.
Amanita mushrooms probably produce a sense of flight as well as many other toxic plants witches used like: Aconitum, Belladonna..etc.
Witches flying on broom sticks was thought to be because they rubbed some ointment containing aconitum or belladonna and then put it on their private area.
Even though it sounds digusting it would be cool to try drinking reindeer urine.
I have read John Allegro and James Arthur too. They make a good case for the amanita, but I wouldn't state it as fact.
