Post by: Merkaba on June 15, 2006, 01:36:06 PM
Wel, so far, Salvia arrived, Skullcap came yesterday, soon, Kratom and Mimosa Hostilis will come.

Has anyone taken skullcap here?  What was your methood?  Tea?  How much, and what was your experience like?  Also, I am interested to hear about your Kratom Experiences.

Thanks.

Have an awesome day!!!

Skullcap is a mild soporific, but nothing to experience. Good to have as a tea before bed, but you won't really "notice anything."

Skullcap is a good nightime tea, like passion flower or valerian.  I think I read somewhere that there is more than one species of plants known as Skullcap, so maybe there's a worthwhile recreational use out there, who knows.  I've only ever used it to treat or stave off insomnia.

I've tried kratom several times @ moderate doses as a tea, and while the effects are pleasantly opiate-like, the tea tastes super nasty, and I inevitably end up vomiting a couple hours after ingestion.  I don't think it's really for me, but my expereince is likely idiosyncratic, 'cause some people love the stuff.

I've been advised-- have not tried it--- that kratom is effective at lower doses if you simply grind the dried leaves into a powder and chug it down with some water, instead of brewing tea.  As I said, I've never tried it, but if it's worked for anyone, I'd like to hear more about it.

A little off the topic of skullcap, but I've found the following to be very effective with kratom.

Take your dose (up to, say, 10 grams), finely powder it (if it isn't already) and mix it into about eight ounces of grapefruit juice. Slug down, and optionally rinse your mouth out.

If you're feeling up to it, give it a go and let us know how it works.

Actually, what I think I will do is just take a fresh leaf, remove the veing and stick it up in my gums.  Has anyone felt nausea from this method?

Skullcap herb mixes well with other sedative herbs. I would list them, but there are so many other sedative herbs.

I hear skullcap and damiana are da bomb.  I was thinking Skullcap, Catnip, maybe a teensie bit of Spearmint for taste, and damiana....

Again, don't expect any psychoactive effects.

(Unfortunately, an overzelous spouse pulled up my skullcap today from the garden, thinking it was a weed.)
