Title: just a thought
Post by: Avery L. Breath on June 10, 2006, 10:15:54 PM
Greetings folks!

Long time no chat...

Anywhoo, I've been chewing on a thought for a while now lately.  Perhaps alot of you have already come to symiliar thoughts or not..... I just don't recall seeing it layed out before.

Yah ever notice how, say, when getting into an altered state of mind on a regular varied basis using the plant medicines in different settings, that there is a distinct difference in the overall experience, based on the setting, preperation and mindset?

Of course you have.

But what about the quantative effects noticed when going at these scenarios alone v.s. with others?

I'm thinking that, when you interact with people through the unique vision these medicines provide, verses having a solitary experience, that you use different parts of your brain.  Thus, the different area's that are stimulated the most in the different scenario's (i.e. speech, logic centers, forbrain/aft exc) are the ones that recieve the most blood flow and effect of the entheogen, based on what part of the brain is getting the workout at the time..... coloring the experience thusly.

Make sense?

If so, anybody care to hypothesize the main bennefits of a group setting verses a solitary session?  Any ideas on scenario's that would stimulate unique and uncharted areas of the brain?

.......... or am I just high again.........

Love

Avery

Yes Ave, you are just  'altered'  once again  ----  I have no scientific evidence to back this up, but I might be willing to concur that the utilization of the speech centers etc would activate certain neural pathways that result in synape fire parameters that color and qaulitatively alter the experience as opposed to one in a quiet setting alone....     'Course whadda I know,  I might just be high as well    ------------sal--------------  PS  saved any drug deranged hippes lately?????---------(think I'll start a rolodex of appropriate personell to call on 8) )--------------

Hey Senor!  Yeah, the new jobs been mad crazy business..... got my sphincter so tight, I don't know whether I'm coming or going yet.  Very humbling.  Must stay up on my shit for sure.

Code 3 lights and sirens driving is pretty fun though!

But back to the subject at hand, is this why people get so much bennefit from group ayahuasca settings and the like as opposed to going it alone?  Or what?  I mean, by the slice of gray matter that's going off at the moment.

I guess i only think about it as such as I just have mostly preffered to go it alone mostly over the years (cept maybe in a guiding situation)  and have only recently tuned into the interactive revalations the spaces have to offer when adding in a trusted friend or two.

I still wonder, though about specifically trying to work different parts of the brain as an excersize, for experimental purposes.  Like focussing on doing complex math problems, or a dark room with only powerfull scents as stimuli or something of that nature.

Reminds me of a paper I once read about a guy who put glasses on people that turned everything they saw upside down.  And eventually, the mind corrected the picture and everything appeared right side up again....... till of course they took off the glasses.
