First off, as I'm new here I'd like to say, "Hi all :)".
OK, the reason I've joined up is that tonight I took the Salvia bull by the horns... and was utterly gored!
My usual proclivities in reference to recreation (and having done some reading, AFTER THE FACT I may add, I now understand that Salvia should not to be used as such) are of an altogether more "mellow" variety, however as there seems to be a bit of a drought at the moment, and having previously read an article (horrendously, and IMO criminally, inadequate; I now realise to my detriment) on the legal status and "party" usage of Salvia, I decided to take the leap.
So off I went to my store and purchased some. Given that there were various strengths available and that I (stupidly) knew nothing reliable about it, I figured "Hey..,. stronger's better, yeah?". £20 for 1g of X20 Salvia, "Looks a fair amount.. good deal", I said, and homeward I toddled.
Now, I am not completely unworldly when trying something new, so I put what I considered to be a very small amount in my pipe bowl (and I am by no means a glutton) and puffed. At first nothing happened, and then after some seconds "Click!".. hypersensitivity.... the air around me felt as if it were water vapour and everything became vivid, not what I was expecting (to be honest I didn't really know what to expect) but not unpleasant, when it had worn off (it's a very short experience, isn't it) I had another bowl, again a small amount, OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!! this time the experience was purely physical and it felt as if someone was tearing sticky backed plastic directly off my brain, not sore per se, but pins and needle-y, this time it was a wholly shattering experience and I thought that I had done some serious damage and was about to die. I was in the process of trying to find the telephone in order to seek assistance when some of the pathological, bowel emptying terror began to subside, so I put my stuff away and sought my bed to "heal"
I awoke after an hour or so, fine but disconcerted, "A bad trip..", I said".. it's not as if it's the first time that's happened!". So after I had gathered my thoughts and not being one to give up so easily, plus being forearmed with some knowledge as to the type of effects Salvia has, i.e LSD-like, I decided to have another go with my third bowl, again with what I consider to be a small amount. Well... you know when you pour warm syrup over a piece of spongecake?..............now imagine being the spongecake! I felt as if a warm viscous fluid (and as the only warm viscous fluid in my body is blood, that was the inescapable conclusion that I was left with) were being poured, or more accurately "Fountaining" over my brain (not skull) and was running down the inside of my skin over the musculature of my head, face and body to the tips of my fingers and toes, however this wasn't the worst... when it was running down the inside of my head, it was accompanied by my being able to see the blood running down the backs of my eyes, i.e a somewhat faint superimposing over what ever I looked at. And all of this whilst burning hot and pouring with sweat. Again I made a terrified stumble for the telephone but remembering that I had previously come through a similar shock unharmed, and with great effort, I decided to wait it out.
So here it is, some four hours later and although physically, fine, I'm left with the absolute remembrance of the liquid flowing down the inside of my body. However having NOW done some reading on the subject and being aware of others' enlightening experiences I am left with two thoughts (thankfully not ONLY two thoughts in my entire head ;)).
Do I give it up a a bad lot and accept that I am not on The Lady's Christmas card list, or is it just that the concoction that I have purchased is far too powerful?
If it's the latter, can someone tell me a way to dilute my Salvia so that it is a slower and more reasonable experience.
Anyway, if you got this far, thank you for reading this rather long winded post.
Welcome to the forum....Just consume less!
Preferably in a quiet, dark place.
Hi! Welcome. Most unfortunate... Sorry to hear you had such a crazy experience... Unfortunately, even the most skilled 'Psychonauts' or lovers of Hallucienogenic drugs underestimate Salvia's power. She is not like any othe psychedelic. Tread with caution, my friend. I say definitely try here again, but my advice is to have a reason to use it. Not just to 'try' it, or to 'get high'. Use it for relfection, or as an aid to find an answer to a deep rooted problem or question, or to bring a new perspective on a certain thing. I think if you have a purpose, she will be very kind to you. Also, I would not recommend doing so much in such a short amount of time. 3 times in one day sounds like you were trying to just get loaded. Maria Pastora requires more respect than that. It is said this plant quite possibly contains one of the most powerfull naturally occuring Hallucinogen on the planet. Yes, a quiet dark room, alone with no stimuli whatsoever... sensory deprevation if you will, these conditions are ideal for this plant.
Good luck in the future!
Peace.
@ Jupe............... Yep, well you'd think that taking less would be the answer... however unless I had a set of lab scales and a pair of tweezers that could be rather difficult :) Seriously, when I said that I took a small amount I meant SMALL, maybe 6 or 7 tiny pieces of crushed leaf.
@ Merkaba..........heh, yeah not pleasant at all. however can I say that I wasn't trying to get loaded, after my first try I knew pretty much that it wasn't that kind of herb, I was mainly intrigued to see if that would be the usual type of effect that I could expect plus I had done some reading by then and was interested in the effects that others had reported, plus having practiced lucid dreaming in the past (do you remember the sleep masks that you could purchase that detected REM and activated a small beeper and light to awaken one inside the dream? They was very interesting..) and being interested in "Dreamtime" I was even more intrigued. I have a theory (unsubstantiated opinion) that actual blood type may have a bearing on the effect of herbs/ etc.. on the body's sytem, being ABRh -ve, coupled with the fact that I've NEVER had what would be considered typical reactions to substances, has reenforced this opinion, (or maybe it's just me :P)
I would now definately not consider SD to be recreational and would be very wary of it in the future should I decide to try it again, however I do feel that smoking is not my prefered method of consumption. I would consider quidding if I had access to a readily available supply of fresh leaves, that is why I was seeking some way in which to dilute my x20 and take sublingually... someone mentioned bringing some to the boil in some red wine and letting it stand for a while and straining.. it this good, bad or unknown?
Anyway thx for the reply guys...
Peace.
Zebedee: Your experiences sound like fairly typical breakthroughs, imo. I tend to view those strange feelings in the brain as representing new neural paths being opened; long-dormant coggs greased; crown chakra cracking open. Let the sun shine In!
From your reaction to the above experience, I would be inclined to guess that maybe salvia just isn't for you. Most everything you described sounds like a typical day in salvia space for me on plain leaf. It is possible for some people (like me) to reach that level by smoking plain leaf. Reverse tolerance is real.
Imo, entering salvia space more than one time during an evening is perfectly acceptable. As a matter of fact, many times the second encounter is easier and less stressful than the first.
Btw, one need no conscious reason to explore one's own subconscious, imo.
Trust me, purpose will have nothing to do with intensity of experience. That would be a function of strength of materials as well as ingestion amounts. By experiencing salvia space multiple times can a person can become accustomed and better prepared for the transition.
Also, I've always viewed that "quite space" suggestion as advice for those having problems breaking through. We find salvia to be extremely synergistic with music.

I would use the 20x to make a tinture. Let it sit in 95% Everclear for a day or so. Should be good. I wouldn't use red wine or heat.
I'd like to thank the guild for their words. ;) There's alot of sense there.

Alcohol that pure isn't available here in Scotland (not that I'm aware of anyway) that's why I was quite interested in a more freely available base, but thx anyway.
Oh I see. I guess wine or some other alcohol (Scotch?) should work. The higher the proof the better. Just make up what you are going to use at the time. Keep it in the dark. If you use heat, keep it on the low side. Salvinorin doesn't evaporate easily, but you don't want to evaporate the alcohol away. I would guess with low heat it would need to soak 6-12 hours. No heat 12-24 hours. Mind you this is a guess, you will have to experiment.
Welcome to the forum.
Thank for the welcome.
It looks like a good brandy then, it's probably the only spirit that I could hold in my mouth for any period of time.
Sub-lingual ingestion may sound easier and more gentle. but one must still get past the taste of sally in the mouth for an extendid period of time. The tannins in plain leaf have proved too strong to be bearable for me. Maybe a tinctature would be easier to (not) swallow.
Scotland, eh?
Which part?

Yeah, a tincture sounds like the most acceptable form of useage for myself, although I'll just have to wait and see :).
I'm from Glasgow (the REAL Scotland, Edinburgh is just for tourists, honestly, and not very indicative of our culture)
We are refered to as Glasweigians (Glaz-wee-djins), or more intimately as weigies (wee-djees)
We enjoyed Glasgow more than Edinburgh, that's for sure. The views in Edinburgh are nice, but that sort of thing only goes so far. We really enjoyed rubbing shoulders with hip Glaswegians in the nooks and crannies around the University. We both would have liked to spend more time in Glasgow than we alloted. And the funny thing is, telling that story usually brings a look of distrustful disgust to the face of any Britt/Scotsman within ear shot.

I'm not surprised at the funny looks.. you really shouldn't rub anything belonging to a Glasweigian in ANY nook or cranny
I'm heartened that you have spelled/pronounced Scotsman correctly, we usually get "Scotchman" or somesuch, and that isn't very wise to say to our face ;)
I had an Aussie visa for emigration at one point and was considering moving but things didn't work out, no offense, but I'm kinda glad... I love Scotland.
LOL Well, Glasgow was the first place I ever saw a taxi driver gently caress the side-view mirrors of parked cars with his own. Folded them back neatly, painted matal to metal, while squeezing the taxi through an impossible looking path through town.
We really enjoyed the City Botanical Garden that was located across from our lodging. Spent the better part of a day wandering the grounds.
Never did get hooked up with Mary Jane that trip, though.
