very nice!!
thatd be a great collection of artefacts, for sure:)
i am not sure of the clay techniques they used, but it looks a bit like some of the superb clay work, where you take a round soft stone and rub it on the quite dry clay covered by a special glaze, rub and rub for hours, days sometimes. it gives the clay this shiny look. its truly exquisite. i cant recall the name or what tribes excalty used this technique, but it sure is a great meditation to do if youre into clay work..
beautiful:)
well i have a few pics so far :) ceramics some bags & seed jewelry
lots of telas & servilletas to go

Man, that is some cool art. Always been a big fan of shipibo crafts.
it sure is awesome alright !! i immediatly loved it when i first saw it , the complexity & simplicity ! i am also amazed with the history of these people who can be traced back 2000 years . i guess its all part of the journey im on :) i ordered lots to hopefully be able to sell some & by doing so help these people out in some small way ,it seems to me they face now what our natives did 100 years ago or less being pushed farther off their lands by progress .
many still trade for thier art but now for items they need to survive & keep up somewhat withj what surrounds them. logging etc slash & burn farming when they actually have the resorces (plants & plant knlowledge ) that could help preserve thier jungle homes . that with their art should afford them a decent living but ..... we all know progress
there was 1 company that used to deal with all the Shipibo/conibo art but it became to costly so they now only deal with close tribes . mine stuff if from the more inaccessable up river tribes that its just not possible for them to get their products closer in to iquitos or pucallpa , many days in boats are spent to collect these pieces .
i am trying to figure how to price these fairly as im happy to get back what i payed + maybe a free piece or 2 for me the freight is very expensive & basically doubles what i pay for each piece .
so please bear with me & any intrest just email me & we can figure something out
many thanks for allowing me to post this as im not a usuall vendor ,just part of my journey it seems :)
