Title: Preparations beforehand
Post by: pinkfloydd on December 16, 2005, 11:09:15 AM
Can anyone assist me on how to accuratly prepare myself to be induced on an intense expirience from extract? I was thinking meditating for a little bit and just sitting and reflecting and clearing my head to get ready. Any tips?

Get any glass tables and such away from you if you plan to get up.

Layer your clothng, salvia has a tendency to give some people the sweats.

Try not to move anywhere - coordination sucks with salvia.

If it gets to weird for you, having someone nearby is a good idea.
Reading and watching TV can help take the edge off an experience that gets to weird, at least they do for me.

A sitter is a good idea.

Thanks for the link, ill definitely read that. Most people say its better to trip indoors opposed to outdoors. I personally dont like being on psychedelics indoors. I have a tendency to be a bit more uncomfortable indoors. I cant be walking about the streets on salvia like I can on shrooms, so I was thinking laying down somewhere isolated outdoors. Also I hear that the darker the better, but outside is obviously not dark (unless night time which iam not going to do it at). Why is the dark better anyway?

Dark is better for less distraction so you can concentrate just like with meditation.

Outdoors are great (better, IMO), but only if you have a safe place with isolation.

Before I moved to town, I only had two neighbors within 1/4 mile. It was a perfect environment for Salvia exploration... I kind of miss those days.

In my opinion, it is important to lay down after inhaling the material. I believe you can train your body not to move.

Meditation, sitting in dark silence, and focusing on your intent is very useful. I also like to include a ritual context; it helps to delineate sacred space/time from normal reality, and can help to maintain the separation that is needed for integration.

The following is not meant as a bash against salvia, but more an endorsement for still darkness - even just a few cups of coffee can create an interesting effect with meditative stillness in the dark and some preferred music.  Motionless alertness allows one to disconnect from one's own skin.  It is amazing how much we are stimulated and how much we are accustomed to it withit noticing it.

So venture on with the salvia, but try to be absolutely still and avoid tactle stimulation.  Indoors is better for this, as even a gently breeze will change the setting by causing the skin to be stimulated.

Good luck.

You know I don't use Salvia that often, but I just quit smoking cigarettes about 6 days back.  If you are a smoker you know what the cravings feel like, and how they cloud your mind and turn it against your own intentions.  The strange thing was I was craving like I have been for a while now, and I ended up smoking salvia.  Now this was day 4 of quiting smoking so the cravings were getting pretty lame, nothing my intelligence couldn't overthrow though.

Ok back to the point, after my Salvia trip the cravings were easily long forgotten.  I felt strong emotions related to the power of the trip, and the inner learning connected to it.  This made the thought of cigarettes escape my mind for the rest of the night....that's just my experiance
