Ham on Rye is great--- possibly the most depressing and bleakly funny autobiography ever written.

I wonder just what it is that has a person find things to his liking???  I mean, Bukowski just "has it", for me...  Must admit that I seem to find his wry, sarcastic, disspassionate 'outsider looking in' viewpoint ,rings a certain chord deeply within senors being....  Heck, I'll just go ahead and state it; I surely suspect that the reason I like 'ole Hanks' stuff so well is cuz I myself am wry, sarcastic etc  -----------  sal

Charles Bukowski rules...hes one of those few writers that made me laugh out loud, alone, sitting, reading on the bus or at a cafe.

real, hard and soft, worked all the bad jobs modern society can imagine, drunk more porto than your average Portugese drunk, sees beauty where most forget to look..

one word for this great man: a poet.

"These Words I Write Keep Me From Total Madness"

“Some people never go crazy, What truly horrible lives they must live.”

Charles Bukowski.
