i know you can make a tea brew of this vine. but has anyone tryed to smoke dryed leaves of the cappi vine.. just the cappi vine.. i know this is probaly a dumb question but im new to the cappi vine family.. so anybody know if you can smoke the leaves..
You can smoke the leaves -- they contain active alkaloids -- but you probalby wouldn't get much of an effect.
I've heard random experience reports over at the aya forum about smoking caapi vine shavings to potentate other substances with some mild success. Though I'd imagine a freebase caapi extract would offer better results.

Thats what the McKennas did in La Correa, smoked caapi root bark after eating massive mushrooms, read True Hallucinatons before you try it.
And from what I heard Avery is right about the freebase.
The mushrooms usually doesnt only contain the psilocybin-like chemicals but also DMT.
If you smoke caapi you will not only potentiate psilocybin but also activate the DMT.

I have never question it myself. If you take syrian rue it becomes like you would think ayahuasca would be with mushrooms.
Have never heard any refference to dmt being discovered in mushrooms. Perhaps what you've heard is that psilocybin is structurally in the same family of alkaloids as dmt. That is, they are both tryptamines.
Caapi has harmine like compounds which will potentiate dmt, psylocibin, lsd and other things. I've heard stories about it making pot stronger when used together but not sure about that. The leaves do contain the compounds, not just the stem or bark.
Shrooms can contain a lot of different things, including poison so be careful of wild grown shrooms. I've never heard of dmt being found but maybe someday we will find one that has it.
Stonehenge is right: B. caapi contains Harmala alkaloids [ß-Carbolines] (Harmine, Harmaline, tetrahydroharmine, etc.). These potentiate a number of tryptmines: DMT, Psilocyn, etc. Thus using Caapi with Mushrooms increase the effects of the mushroom exponetially. I have never run across a study showing a mushroom to contain DMT (but doesn't mean one wont be discovered, its a fairly common compound).

I have been told by several sources who are saavy in the science world that mushies do contain DMT. And as you see above, they do.
I have also been warned to be careful with mixing an MAOI with mushies. It can be one hell of a ride, and not in a good way.

I've not heard/read that mushrooms contain DMT however I have read that Psilocybin is very closely related indeed. I'm not to knowledgable on chemical structure but could someone tell us moreo n this ?

i assume that because they have N,N-dimethyltryptamine in their chemical structure that means they have N,N-dimethyltryptamine in them. N,N-dimethyltryptamine is DMT.
Psilocybin is DMT but with some added atoms,,,I think hydrogen and oxygen, that's what the phosphoryl-4-hydroxy is. That's what makes DMT and psilocybin a little different. Also a wierd fact is the psilocybin containg mushroom is the only organic lifeform on the planet that contains phosphoryl-4-hydroxy. Which started the thought and makes them a good canidate for being an alien life form from another place. Seeing how they have a chemical make up that obviously did not evolve here.

The red part is the phosphoryl-4-hydroxy, the rest is a perfect DMT make up.
But to make a statement again about combining MAOI's with psilocybin, BE CAREFUL! You are playing with cosmic fire, and it can burn, burn, burn. I only stress this point because an old roomate who had countless hours of psychadelic flight time under his belt had a very overwhelming and frieghtening experience doing this. And he was a good swimmer of the deep waters, this however was to far into the abyss. And it went on and on for a long time. So just know your doses when you are playing with synergy. I only say it because I care. I would like you all to make it back to ground zero.

I apologize, I was not trying to scare the kiddies away from from MAOI's, they are truly amazing, a little caapi and chacruna gets a gold star in my book :-)
Just giving the kiddies, especially any who are newbie's to this territory a little tip. I can just see someone getting inspired off this idea and drinking down a bunch of caapi or rue and then gobbling a good 4-6 g' of the little aliens thinking they will have an amazing breakthrough experience. Amazing experience it will be, just know the territory or it might scare the bajesus out of you:-)
